Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. All sessions are private pay, due at the time of service. What I will provide, upon request is a statement at the end of the month, that lists all my information that someone would need for out of network services, if you have those and are interested
in pursuing those on your own. In my practice, I charge monthly for appointments, at the beginning of the month, and so your monthly payments will be broken down by individual sessions, on this month end statement. However, I do not do anything with insurance in my practice.
How long will I be in therapy?
In this line of work, it’s hard to give an estimate of how long you’ll be in therapy. I only work with clients who are willing to commit to longer therapeutic programs, because I feel that in order to experience fundamental change, you have to commit to consistently working on your own emotional healing and growth process. You didn’t get to this difficult / stuck / hard place in your life overnight- fundamental change is also not going to happen overnight. That said, I find that people who show up deeply committed to growing and healing, tend to start feeling the effects of this work immediately. I have some folks who begin this work with me and work with me for a few cycles of their programs and feel like they’ve gotten what they need and come back at another time in their life when things start to dismantle again. I also have other folks who signed up and have not stopped coming to therapy and our work together, many years later. Of course, there’s a whole range of experiences in between that. The only guarantee that I can give you about this is that you will get out of it what you are willing to put into it in terms of your commitment levels, your time, your energy, your investment and so on. It’s really up to you to shape how this process will unfold for you.
There are two kinds of helpful services: counseling, which is problem-solving based, and then the work that I do, which is this deeper fundamental emotional change. In this work that I do, your life will be deeply transformed. I believe in helping you deeply understand yourself and know how to meet your needs in satisfying ways, not just solve problems.
In some ways, I’m one of the only professions in which my job is to help others become independent and not need me.
Do you work weekends?
I do not. My office hours are as follows:
Every other Monday afternoon (2nd & 4th Mondays) I am in the office usually between 2-5pm.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are late days, typically around 12-8pm or so.
Wednesdays I start a bit earlier and end a bit earlier, so usually around 10-5pm or so
I try to work with people’s schedules as best as I can. Given that my clinical hours are limited I only work with people who are (1) committed and (2) committed. I structure my programs in such a way that we meet for 3 clinical appointments per month. Upon beginning our work together, I may not be able to schedule you for the same consistent time each week, however, if that is something that you desire, then I will do my best to eventually move you into a time slot that is available consistently for you. It might take a month or two to do that. As such, I’d ask for as much flexibility up front on your end as possible to begin working with you as a client.
I am not able to reschedule appointments due to limited availability in my schedule, so I do like to let people know that it is a “use it or lose it” kind of thing. If you are unable to keep your appointments within the month, you forfeit this monthly clinical hour. In some cases, if you give me at least 48 hours notice of cancellation, and if I have another opening in my calendar that week or month, then I may be able to reschedule. This is quite unlikely and rarely happens though that I will have another time to reschedule..
I do offer video conferencing for sessions too, which allows for greater flexibility and freedom in scheduling and keeping appointments. I find that many of my clients “take me on vacation” with them or out of town trips… this is one of the fantastic benefits for teletherapy and video conferencing! It also allows them to record their sessions, if they would like and request to do so, audio only though. You will have to sign a waiver to audio record your sessions though, just an FYI..
Are you taking new clients?
I am not taking new clients at this time, as my caseload is full. If you would like, I can add you to a waitlist and contact you when I have new spots available for individual therapy. From time to time, I also run groups for new clients, and so can add you to that waitlist if you’d like, as well.
Just let me know if you’d like to be added to either of those lists, and if so, please give me the best contact phone number, along with the best email to reach you at and I’ll be sure to add you. You can send this information to me via the Contact page.
